David Diamond
David Diamond is the President of David Diamond Associates - a consulting practice focused on marketing and strategic planning. Prior to founding David Diamond Associates, David was President of Emerging Businesses and Chief Vision Officer for Catalina Marketing. Before joining Catalina Marketing, he was President and CEO of Lamaze Publishing Company, a $10 million publisher of magazines and video products for new and expecting parents. In addition, David served as Senior Vice President and General Manager for ActMedia's promotion division and as Senior Vice President for the company's new products division where he helped to develop the Instant Coupon Machine. He began his marketing career at Procter & Gamble.
George Ganzenmuller
George Ganzenmuller has over 25 years' experience in the grocery sales and marketing and food brokerage industries. He is currently Division Vice President, North and Canada, for Advantage Sales and Marketing (ASM), where he is responsible for all of ASM's Canadian and northeastern U.S. operations, as well as all of Unilever's outsourced sales and marketing in the U.S. Previously, he was the President of the New England division of Advantage Sales and Marketing/Pezrow, the largest food brokerage company in the region. George began his marketing career at Procter & Gamble.
Harris Gordon
With over 35 years of industry and consulting experience, Harris was a Vice President and led the Global Customer Relationship Management Practice at Bearing Point (formerly KPMG Consulting). Prior to his experience at BearingPoint, Harris was one of the three founding Partners and leaders of the CRM practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers. From its inception in 1996, this practice grew to be the largest CRM professional services practice with revenues by 2002 of over $2.2B. His many publications for The DMA (Direct Marketing Association) include "Customer Experience Management," "Marketing in the Interactive Age," and "Best Practices in Interactive Marketing." Harris is a frequent speaker on Technology topics at The DMA, The Conference Board, FMI, NCDM, and other association conferences. He has guest lectured at Harvard Business School, IESE Business School(Spain), University of Cape Town and Columbia Business School. He was frequently quoted in the US media and has appeared on nationally syndicated programs television programs such as "Good Morning America" and CNN.
Dr. James Frankel
Dr. Frankel's professional experience includes work at International Business Machines (IBM) T. J. Watson Research Center where he contributed to the 801 computer project -- the first RISC computer, Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) where he pioneered the use of distributed computers to execute a single automatically-parallelized program, the Corporate Research Group at Digital Equipment Corporation (Digital) where he conducted research in software systems for parallel computers, and Thinking Machines Corporation where he designed the C* Language, led the team that implemented the initial compilers for the language, was part of the team that designed the interconnection network for the CM5 supercomputer, and ported Unix onto the CM5. In addition to Frankel and Associates, he has also started two other companies: CommerceTone (acquired by Mercantec) which brought large company eMarketing services to small businesses and Auripay (acquired by Cyota which was then acquired by RSA Security) which provided security to credit card holders. Dr. Frankel holds a doctorate from Harvard University. He is a member of the ACM and the IEEE.
Dan Granger
With over 30 years experience in the targeted marketing services sector, Dan was previously the Chairman & CEO Catalina Marketing Corporation. He managed the growth and expansion of Catalina's marketing services business from $150M in revenue to over $500M in revenue domestically and internationally during his tenure. His previous experience in managing public and private marketing services companies includes CEO of Continental Promotion Group, Senior Partner at Sage Worldwide (division of Ogilvy & Mather) and Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Vons Grocery Company in Southern California. Dan is currently the Managing Partner of FireAnt Marketing Group, a group consulting practice focused on targeted marketing and strategic planning for retailers and the consumer products industry.
Leo Sprecher
Leo Sprecher is the President and owner of Budd Foods, a maker of premium prepared foods including Mrs. Budd's Chicken Pies. He has nearly 30 years of experience in food manufacturing and marketing. Prior to his acquisition of Budd Foods, Leo was part of the turnaround team that rescued Mellon Bank from the brink of collapse. Leo began his career as an electrical engineer at Hughes Aircraft and GTE Labs.
Bill White
Bill White is the retired President of Shoppers Food, a regional chain in the Baltimore/ Washington, D.C. market. In his seven years as President he doubled the sales and profits through opening new stores, remodeling existing stores and acquisitions. Over his forty year career he held executive positions at Mega Foods, Brunos/Piggly Wiggly and Giant of Carlisle . He started his career with Stop & Shop. Bill brings his extensive knowledge of grocery retailing to Incentive Targeting.
Dave Henry
Dave started his career at the Star Markets division of Jewel companies, working in operations, pricing, media buying and marketing. As Vice President of Marketing and Advertising for Price Chopper Supermarkets, he helped to pioneer one of Retail’s first customer reward cards, using the data gathered to further customize what the company offered and how it positioned itself in the market. In 2001, Dave joined Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc. as Senior Vice President of Marketing. As SVP, he played a key role in the development of a marketing campaign that completely repositioned the company and rejuvenated the Winn-Dixie brand, allowing it to competitively attract a broader customer base and improve market share. This change is widely acknowledged as the foundation for the company’s successful emergence from financial challenges. He has served as Chairman of the FMI Marketing & Advertising Executive Committee, and served on the Executive Committee for Marketing & Advertising for NGA. A popular speaker and guest lecturer, Dave regularly shares his insights on effective advertising at national industry and business management conferences for organizations such as schools, the Food Marketing Institute, and the Network of Executive Women. Now retired from Winn-Dixie, Dave serves on the Board of Directors for Retail Sense, Mass Connections, and the Florida Theatre.
Jerry King
Jerry has over 30 years of experience bringing new software products and services to market, both in venture-backed and corporate environments. Most recently, as the COO at Where Inc., Jerry managed the company from start-up to profitability to acquisition by eBay, Inc. (EBAY) in 2011. Before entering the mobile space, Jerry had executive appointments as VP & GM of XML Products for Progress Software (PRGS), SVP of Channels at eXcelon Corp. (EXLN), and VP, Consulting for C-Bridge Internet Solutions (CBIS). As both a board director and operating executive for C-bridge, Jerry’s efforts to build an industry-leading Internet systems integrator resulted in a successful IPO in 1999. Jerry was also integral to the merger of C-Bridge with eXcelon in 2001 and the sale of eXcelon to Progress in 2002. Before he joined C-Bridge, Jerry held leadership positions at Sybase and Unum (UNM) and a series of advanced technology roles on Wall Street. Jerry has given expert testimony before U.S. Congress and spoken at conferences around the world. He has served as a board director or board-level advisor for several Internet and mobile start-ups and is currently a board director for The Capital Network with a focus on coaching early stage entrepreneurs. Jerry spends his free time in Maine with family and lives to hike and ski. He graduated with a BA from Tufts University and a MS from Bentley College.
Phill Schneider
Phill, recently retired, has more than 48 years of experience in the supermarket industry, including with Stop & Shop, Walbaum's Food Mart, and for the last 20 years with Big Y Foods. He began his career at Stop & Shop sorting bottles as a part time employee while attending high school, later advancing to Store Manager, the Buyer for the Connecticut and New Jersey Divisions, and then Assistant Grocery Sales Manager of the two Divisions. He subsequently joined Walbaum's Food Mart as Grocery Buyer, later becoming the Director of Grocery Sales. Phill then joined Big Y Foods in 1991 as Director of Grocery Procurement, progressing through the ranks as Director of Grocery Sales and Procurement, Vice President of Center Store, Vice President of Sales, and ultimately Senior Vice President of Sales. While at Big Y, he was a member of Topco, participating on their operations committee, the purchasing action committee, and the World Brands buying consortium. Phill served for six years in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. In his community, Phill was elected to serve on the Hampden School Committee, and volunteered his time to other organizations, including as a youth baseball and softball coach and Cub Scout Pack leader.
Bill Kies
Bill is a thirty-five year veteran of the supermarket industry with a wide range of experience. Prior to entering the food sector he held political appointments in The White House and U.S. House of Representatives following his service with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in our Nation’s Capital. Bill became a student of the food retailing business in 1976 when hired at the newly established Food Marketing Institute. Over the next fourteen years, Bill held various management positions at FMI with the last five as senior vice president responsible for membership, field office operations, marketing, trade-industry-media relations and publications. Bill was instrumental in the formation of the Institute’s sponsored retailer share groups and the National State Association Council in addition to opening six regional field offices resulting in doubling FMI’s membership in three years. In 1991, Bill was recruited by the Independent Grocers Alliance, Inc. (IGA, INC) as President and COO of the Chicago based international cooperative owned by wholesalers servicing over 4,000 independently owned supermarkets in twenty countries. Bill pioneered many firsts at IGA including a national image/branding campaign on Turner Broadcasting CNN and establishing a national private label broker council. He realigned the management team in conjunction with the president’s advisory board for strategic and procurement objectives. In 1994, Bill opened his own firm. His practice has grown over the past eighteen years to be one of the premier consulting practices in the food retail industry. His clients include Fortune 100 companies and firms offering national services and programs. In additional to his consultancy, Bill services on the advisory boards of the industry’s trade associations and serves as trusted advisor to their senior executives. Being responsive to industry’s needs, Bill established the Friends of the Industry Dinner fourteen years ago. Sponsorship funds have generated nearly $1 million of educational contributions to organizations designed by the attending retailers. In 1997, Bill incorporated Retail Operations & Insights. Known as ROI, this customized supplier-retailer summit format engages senior executives in strategic dialogue and asset alignment for mutual growth. To further service clients’ strategic initiatives he established Strategic Engagement Services, LLC in 2010. Bill’s accumulation of experience spanning government service, trade association management, wholesaler-retailer operations in addition to advising over 150 clients on strategic and tactical execution has earned him the reputation as one of the most effective and trusted advisors in the supermarket industry.
