Bringing Groupon to Grocery
Monday, June 6, 2011 at 10:53PM Groupon is, without a doubt, the most thrilling thing to happen to discounting since the invention of the Buy One, Get One Free sale. And they have built themselves quite a business by driving unprecedented crowds to mom-and-pop shops, restaurants, and spas. They are so successful, in fact, that they recently announced their plan to IPO.
Yet despite their meteoric rise, and a few interesting experiments notwithstanding, neither Groupon nor any of their hordes of imitators have been successful at bringing the social buying model to the $550 Billion retail grocery industry (the reasons why will be the topic of a future post).
It is with great excitement, then, that I can announce that as of 12 AM on Tuesday, June 7, Incentive Targeting has brought Groupon into the retail grocery space. For all the details, be sure to check out our formal Press Release, but suffice it to say, we're pretty stoked that we're helping Groupon enter this giant new market, and we hope for great things to come.
